To genealogists, cemeteries contain some of the most valuable and personal information available about ancestors. Every day older cemeteries and family burial grounds are lost to nature and the history they contain is gone forever. Even for current cemeteries, records are sometimes hard to locate and have not kept up with other online resources. And even words carved in stone are not permanent. In recent years acid-rain has eaten away at the tombstones of our fore bearers. It is up to us to document their stones with photographs and transcriptions so that the words carved in their stones will not be lost with time.
