Birth
Gideon was born in Dutchess County, NY at about 1798, the son of Lemuel Barbour who was a native of France.[1]
Occupation
He was a life-long and successful farmer who spent the last thirty-five years of his life in Berne, where he conducted a farm.[1]
Marriage and Children
Gideon married Mary(Polly)Nelson[1]at about 1819. Polly was born at about 1797.[2]
Their children:
- Jesse Barber[1]
- Nelson Barber[1] born at about 1824[2]
- Charles Barber born May 1825.[1]
- Darius Barber[1] born about 1835[2]
- John Barber[1] born at about 1831[2]
- Roxie Barber[1] born at about 1832[2]
Death
Gideon died in 1874, and his wife died in 1868[1]
